Awkwafina

Awkwafina is an American performer and actress. Her first release was hilarious, intelligently composed music that tackled questions of racial identity as well as sexual orientation. She then expanded her audience to Hollywood. Nora Lum began her musical path as a trumpeter. Born in Forest Hills Queens, she was a child of Chinese immigrants and Korean immigrants. She also received Jazz and classical training before delving into hip-hop as a teenager. While in college, she focused on her studies and took up a degree in women's studies as well as journalism. In a short period of time, in Beijing, Mandarin language classes were also available. Her focus shifted to music only after she graduated. Her track in 2012 My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success across the Internet and was later released on her debut LP Yellow Ranger in 2014. The album featured other viral hits like the body-positive Queef and the winking tour of her hometown NYC BitcheUSD. The track that was second on the album linked to Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide, published in 2015. This was an additional initiative. Her resume contained both an the musician and author. Now she was looking to further her career in acting. Her film credits include films including Neighbors 2 Storks, and Bad Rap. In 2018, she scored major roles in a variety of high-profile movies like Dude Ocean's Eight and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP debuted in June.
